The Cut Out is a laid back and fun look into the lives of everyday Australians working in remote and rural areas in Australia - and everyone who has ever worked in a Woolshed knows a cut out needs four things: Good company, good stories, and of course some good music and a good drink always helps too, which is what this podcast is all about! Each episode begins with a feature on an Independent Australian Country, Folk or Acoustic artist, with a song played before every interview, and then James dives straight into a chat with the people who make the Australian Outback and Bush such an amazing place. So grab a beer and turn the wireless up, and join James for some laughs with his amazing guests!

Andrew Chapman has been photographing rural Australia (in particular woolsheds) since the 1970's, and has released a number of books on the topic since that time. He has also photographed a number of iconic Australian Politicians and musicians from across the world (among many other subjects) and he has no doubt been a huge influence on my own photography career.
Andrew has an enormous amount of knowledge on the history of wool in Australia and it was a privilege to have him share it on the show during our chat.

Chantel McAlister is one of the most talented photographers you're ever likely to come across in Australia - and I can honestly say I would have to be one of her biggest fans.
Starting out in Brisbane, she later found herself immersed in the Australian Bush, working in Woolsheds and taking photos of the places she worked at as she travelled across the country. She now has tens of thousands of followers across her social media platforms and works as a photography coach, helping others start up their own photography businesses and coaching them along the way.

Harry and Lauren have the best job in the world. Hands down.
This young couple left Perth earlier this year in their 80's series Landcriuiser on a move across the country to Queensland, but this has now evolved into a hugely popular Instagram page and ton of sponsors and endorsements and a trip with no end in sight. Having both quit their jobs to make this happen, they haven't looked back and are now living every Australians dream as they make their way across the country with no plans along the way.
If you have Instagram, be sure to follow them @hazandloztravelaus and go and have a look at the content they post from the amazing places they visit.

Jordan might just be the funniest man I've ever met.
From his early days growing up in Far North Queensland, Jordan was no stranger to hard work. However life had him destined for bigger things, with dreams of being an actor since he was young. He has since moved to the Gold Coast and starred in roles such as the Australian war epic "Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan" alongside some of the biggest names in the Australian film industry. Most people however are familiar with him now for his social media page "Angry Christmas Productions" which has clocked over millions of views for his hilarious videos that he has written, directed and starred in. Despite all this, Jordan remains down to earth and loves a beer (or slab) as much as the rest of us.
The featured artist for the episode is Dani Young with her song "Stepping Stones". You can find Dani on Facebook and Instagram @daniyoungmusic and on all the usual streaming apps.
You can find Jordan @angrychristmasproductions on all the usual social media platforms.

Outback Truckers has been a staple part of every rural Australians TV diet for the past decade, so I'm sure Yogi is a man who needs no introduction to most of the regular listeners here. He has done everything from tree falling in Victoria to now running his own trucking business in W.A, where most of us are now familiar with him. He has definitely been one of the funnest guests I've had to interview, and is an absolute Legend of country Australia.

Jeff Robinson is a family friend I have known my entire life, and has spend some of his best years working across Australia as a Shearer, including several years in New Zealand. He has seen the shearing industry change from his time as a learner in the 70's, through to the wide comb dispute until an injury in the Woolshed brought an end to his career in the early 90's.
